How disappointed I was after my time in Mossuril with Lisa and the Teran Foundation in 2011.  Full of expectation and a long held dream to help others less fortunate I arrived. First impressions were of a dirty and ill kept house. Indeed it remained so, a filthy kitchen lacking any attempt at cleanliness, flies, ants, and cockroaches sharing our food with delight. The bathroom with a filthy toilet,and no running water was full of mosquitos descending on you as you entered. The small cramped bedroom with a sagging mattress also offered no comfort. Food was  minimal, consisting mostly of beans and shima, any hint of fruit or vegetable was a rarity, breakfast was a stale bread roll with a jar of ant ridden jam. There was no fridge, food was left to be recycled the next day. The water from the well was not fit for drinking, no alternative was offered. The staff were clearly living in fear, long hours and little pay, given irregularly and erratically, they had little to eat.
The impression given is that of helping the community, not so, although this is what she and her partner Mees believe. So many projects talked about, few if any come to fruition, it is all fantasy. Constant requests to borrow money, the ATM wasn't working, an unexpected payment, none was refunded to either of us.
Please be warned this is not a trustworthy organization, your goodwill is abused, your faith in humanity is dented, and your health is put at risk.

Sinds enkele jaren is het duivelskoppel Lisa de st Aubin en Mees van Deth in het noorden van Mozambique neergestreken, in een klein dorp genaamd Mossuril, waar ze de locale bevolking exploiteren. Om hun prive kas te spijzen hebben beide een dubieuze foundation opgezet in Nederland, genaamd de Teran Foundation, waarmee ze betalende vrijwilligers naar Mossuril lokken om er in mensonterende omstandigheden allerhande vuile werkjes voor hen op te knappen.
Alle vrijwilligers worden financieel uitgebuit en vertrekken na korte tijd met grote ontgoocheling terug naar huis...blijkt dat de Teran Foundation eigenlijk een grote zeepbel is, die geen enkel project met de locale bevolking tot een goed einde brengt.

Met deze Nederlands en Engelstalige blog willen we echte ervaringen van Teran Foundation vrijwilligers publiceren zodat toekomstige kandidaten weten wat ze kunnen verwachten...
